Sta. Barbara, Iloilo—In a move to empower communities through sustainable livelihoods, Pilmico Foods Corporation (Pilmico), an Aboitiz Foods company, partnered with the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. – Microfinance (RAFI-MFI) and Aboitiz Foundation Inc. to hold a turnover ceremony for Egg Machine Livelihood kits in Iloilo. Now in its third year, the initiative continues to uplift lives by providing essential resources, technical support, and livelihood opportunities in egg production.
As part of RAFI-MFI’s Padayon sa Pagbusay (Paddle Unceasingly) program, which supports families in the Visayan region recovering from the impact of Typhoon Odette, Pilmico and RAFI-MFI distributed livelihood kits to help affected families rebuild their lives and start small businesses.
The event took place at the RAFI-MFI Office in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo, where they turned over egg machine livelihood kits to three selected beneficiaries from Miag-ao, Tigbauan, and Pototan, Iloilo. Each kit included 144 ready-to-lay hens, two months’ worth of Pilmico Feeds, animal health products, egg weighing scales, and access to continuous technical support, with each package valued at ₱175,000 per beneficiary.
Junrey Bugsocan, District Head of Panay South at RAFI-MFI, expressed his gratitude during the event, “This is the first in Panay South, and we are thankful that Pilmico has chosen RAFI-MFI to be their partner for this livelihood project. For the chosen beneficiaries, I hope you will keep the project going and have that growth mindset to really sustain the project and make it grow in the future.”
This distribution effort is part of the Pilmico Livelihood Kit program, a flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative that started in 2013. The program equips aspiring entrepreneurs with the necessary tools and training to build sustainable businesses.
